JOMSOM
Jomsom also known as Dzong-Sampa or New Fort, is a town located at an altitude of about 2700 m in Mustang District, Nepal. It extends over both the banks of the Kali Gandaki River. Along the banks of Kali Gandaki river, we can find the black rocks or stone which is called
shaligram in the Hindu culture and take it as the form of God Vishnu. This type of stone is only found in this Kali Gandaki River but people are unknown about it so, it is holy to the Hindus. The soaring peaks of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri form a backdrop. As the district headquarters, it is primarily an administrative and commercial center with government officials and merchants rubbing shoulders with the local residents of the region, known as Thakalis. A company of the Nepalese Army is
stationed here. Nearby is Jomsom Airport from where there are
regular flights.

Day 7Trip to Marpha, Kagbeni, Muktinath and Lomanthang

Sightseeing of Marpha, Kagbeni,Muktinath and Lomanthang,
Marpha is a pretty stone lined village which has survived the transition to the current time, by catering to trekkers and tourists. The village is a common overnight halt on the Annapurna Circuit, less crowded and touristy[citation needed than Jomsom to the north.The name itself reflects the “mar” meaning hard working and “pha” meaning people. Tourism and mule rearing are the means of survival of the people of this place. Although it has an original Safe Water Drinking station, it now also sports numerous guest houses and small hotels.The village is the apple capital in the nation, with Marpha brandy and jams produced from local fruits.

MUKTINATH
Muktinath is a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists located in Muktinath Valley at an altitude of 3,710 meters at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass (part of the Himalayas) in Mustang, Nepal.
Jomsom lies to the north of Pokhara in Mustang district, and is the main gateway to Upper Mustang. It lies to south of the village of Kagbeni, a Tibetan-influenced village filled with prayer wheels, chortens and a Buddhist monastery. The trail passing through Jomsom follows the Kali Gandaki River which forms the deepest ravine in the world; on one side lies the Annapurna mountain range and on the other side is Dhaulagiri. The river freezes during winter and flows with rainwater and melting snow in summer and monsoon.

Day 8Drive to Jomsom

Lo Manthang (3,800m) is an isolated Tibetan settlement that was founded in 1380 and Capital ancient city of Upper Mustang. It is 90
kilometers from Jomsom. The city was one of the kingdoms when Nepal was in a monarchy system. The village is covered by the wall so that Lo Manthang is also called a walled city of Upper Mustang. The area is inhabited by an estimated 900 Lhobas peoples. Further to Korala is about 20 kilometers which are Tibetan boarder. Local peoples are still trading goods via this route from Tibet. Formally this
immigration is not yet open.
Lo-manthang culturally rich as Tibetan origin. The area is mostly held by ethnic group Lhobas, which cultures are similar as Tibetan. About twelve caves discovered near Lo Manthang village which is ancient Buddhist paintings and set in sheer cliffs at 14,000 feet. Silver and gold painting contains in Tibetan script shows dates of the 13th
century. Most of the paintings are in Newari influence. Decorative caves are rich in art and painting depicting various forms of Buddha. Many Buddhist Stupas found inside the caves
Lo Manthang and Upper Mustang area to explore ancient Buddhist
cultures, thousand years old monasteries, cultures, peoples, and
beautiful scenery. The area is beautiful as high altitude desert with a pocket of green.

About Tiji FestivalTiji Festival is the grand Tibetan-Buddhist festival celebrated in the
Lo-Manthang City of Upper Mustang. The festival remains endemic to the people of Upper Mustang. The term “Tiji” stands for “Tenchi.” Both of these are the short forms of Tenpa Chirim, which means prayer for world peace.

The Tiji festival will be celebrated on the English dates of 5th, 6th, and 7th May of 2024 in the Upper Mustang.

PASHUPATINATH
One of the most sacred Hindu temples of
Nepal – Pashupatinath Temple is located on both banks of Bagmati River on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu. The main temple of Pashupatinath is a building with a bunk roof and a golden spire. It is located on the Western bank of Bagmati and is considered a masterpiece of Hindu architecture. Pashupatinath is the most important temple dedicated to god Shiva. Every year this temple
attracts hundreds of elderly followers of Hinduism. They arrive here to find shelter for the last several weeks of their lives, to meet death, be cremated on the banks of the river and travel their last journey with the waters of the sacred river Bagmati, which later meets the holy river Ganges

BOUDHANATH
Boudha stupa is semicircle shaped and contains the relics and remains of Buddha. The stupa’s massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in the world. Boudha Stupa was listed in world
heritage list by UNESCO in 1979 and it is one of the most popular
tourist sites in Kathmandu.
